Across the aisle, the Chester County Republican Committee is trying to tie the Democratic candidates for commissioner, district attorney and sheriff to the escape from Chester County Prison in August 2023 of convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante.
Two men with experience in the office are seeking election this year to replace outgoing Sheriff Fredda Maddox, who is seeking a seat on the county’s Common Pleas Court. Democrat Kevin Dykes now serves as Maddox’s chief aide, while Republican Roy Kofroth is a local businessman who worked as a deputy from 2021 to 2022, after having served as a security monitor.

As of last week, the county reported that the total number of fulltime and part time vacancies in the office was 41, once fewer than the numbers from August.
The five Democrats vying to become Chester County Court of Common Pleas judge in the 2023 election are: Sarah Black, Nicole Forzato, Fredda Maddox, Thomas “Tip” McCabe, and Deborah Ryan.
