comedy central. john, it s every religion in this cartoon was made fun of. they had buddha snorting cocaine. they had jesus, i think, watching porn. things which would be deeply offensive to people who believe in jesus or believe in buddha or any of the religions mocked. and yet only islam, muslims are held to a different standard. that is the only one that you cannot, that apparently, according to comedy central, you cannot mock or even portray. or even mention the name of. that was entirely the point of the southpark episodes. we have this sort of free speech zone that applies to everything except this one area. sort of a fear inflicted free speech zone. that s why it was called out. but, you know that s why we need to also follow through here. free speech debates come in unexpected places. but the open society needs to be defended and it requires a straightening our civic backbone and not giving into fear. this group, revolution muslim, an obscure group, out of new york, d
bleeped too. this was actually important. this is a joke, a cartoon, but sometimes free speech fights show up where you least expect them. this is a fault line in that fight, especially the letter that was sent to them, the threat from this group, muslim revolution, which showed graphic images of one murdered years ago. this is something to take seriously. we need to take a clear strong line. we can t have a free speech zone every place, except in one area where they are intimidated into talking. they took care not to show the image. there are obviously sensitivities here, doesn t want to inflame the muslim community. when you look at what happened with rushdy after he wrote the
