Easter tipped five-wide turning for home en route to a powerful 1 ¼ length victory in Tuesday’s Grade 2, $200,000 San Gabriel Stakes

An on-track crowd of 37,143 contributed to a robust all-sources handle of $18.3 million on Santa Anita's opening day on Tuesday.

Phil D'Amato-trained Easter, coming off a big win in the Seabiscuit, is favored in Tuesday's San Gabriel Stakes at Santa Anita.

“Frankie reached out to me and said that he’d like to ride this weekend, so I’m putting him on a few horses,” said agent Ron Anderson

The weekend's graded stakes action is dominated by New York's Belmont Park, which has five stakes carded on Saturday.
