Sen Hickenlooper s visit to Pueblo raises anticipation about proposed Front Range Rail project

Sen. Hickenlooper’s visit to Pueblo raises anticipation about proposed Front Range Rail project PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) A Thursday visit to the Steel City by former Colorado governor and now Colorado U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper is the latest sign that the Front Range Rail project, an idea that s been discussed for decades, appears to be gaining steam. Local and state leaders view the project as one that would provide a viable transportation option and reduce pollution and traffic congestion along Interstate 25, as well as stimulate growth and development around and south of Pueblo.

As the Majority Leader in the House, I’m working tirelessly to put Pueblo and Southern Colorado front and center, and to shepherd through our collective top priorities: legislation that will help Colorado recover faster and build back stronger. One of the more exciting challenges before us this year is the once-in-a-generation opportunity we have to allocate nearly $2 billion in federal stimulus money to create jobs and complete transformational projects in Colorado that we’ve never had the funding for until now. This has raised one pretty important question. What should these transformational projects be, and how should we spend these federal dollars?
