The Colombian president Gustavo Petro opens door to a new transitional justice system
Right after taking office as president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro has announced his intention to try and negotiate peace with the country’s remaining armed groups and major organized crime cartels. But it is unclear what kind of transitional justice framework would apply and how it would compete, overload or duplicate the current transitional justice system born of the 2016 peace accords with the FARC guerrilla.
