Earlier this morning, Patently Apple posted a report titled "Apple continues to Explore the use of LCoS Displays in Future Devices such as AR Smartglasses, Macs and more." In another patent that we discovered in Europe this morning, we see that Apple is also working in parallel on a similar display technology that they refer to as ferroelectric liquid crystal on silicon (fLCoS) display panel. Apples display team have worked on this since 2020.

Apples research into the use of titanium in future Apple Devices was made public back in 2017 . In January 2021 we posted an IP report Titled "Apple explores the use of Titanium, Titanium Alloys and Hybrid Plastics for Future Devices. Today the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially granted Apple a patent relating to oxide coatings for titanium surface based devices that could eliminate fingerprints on the surface of a device.
