Organometal halide perovskites (OHPs) are promising as photoanodes in photoelectrochemical water splitting for hydrogen production. However, the loss of photogenerated charge carriers through recombination along with slow reaction speeds limit their efficiency. Now, researchers from Korea and USA have developed highly efficient OHP-based photoanodes using an approach based on rational design that exhibits an unprecedented catalytic activity and light-to-current conversion efficiency.
