Seoul, South Korea – Nokia today announced that it has launched a Private 5G Open Lab , as part of its existing Advanced Technology Center at its Seoul office s to showcase its technology and encourage the development of 5G private wireless network s in Korea.
Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT, 雲達科技), a server unit of Quanta Computer Inc (廣達電腦), yesterday said it would accelerate its expansion of capacity next year to catch up with growing demand for servers and cloud-computing products.
QCT has two new investments in the US totaling US$42 million to fund the expansion of laptop and server assembly lines, and to “support the future growth of our server business,” QCT president Mike Yang (楊麒令) said.
“We are also adding a new factory in Thailand and preparing for capacity expansion in Europe,” Yang said. “We are investing in a promising future.”

Taiwan s 5G sector is gaining a head of steam. Just five months after launch, operators have crossed the 1 million customer mark and are ramping up investment and collaboration with local industry.
Chunghwa Telecom, the biggest operator, says it has clocked up more than 300,000 5G subscribers since its debut on June 30.
The other two big players, Far EasTone and Taiwan Mobile, have also passed the 300,000 mark, United Daily News reported.
Of the two smaller operators, Taiwan Star has reached 100,000, while Asia-Pacific Telecom (APT), which launched in October, hasn t disclosed its numbers.
Both Chunghwa and FarEasTone are aiming to achieve 1 million subs by the second half of 2021.
