Gojira - Fortitude (Album Review)

“When you change yourself, you change the world,” is perhaps the most enduring mantra gleaned from Gojira’s 2016 record, ‘Magma’. That change, a shift further into more melodic and arena-ready territories for the French progressive death metal quartet, was met with near-unanimous critical praise and an ever-growing audience.
That evolution wasn’t by choice, but by necessity. After the passing of founding members Joe and Mario Duplantier’s mother, Patricia, they refocused their efforts into something that better communicated their grief. But with ‘Fortitude’ the pendulum swings again, back towards their thematic and sonic roots in pointed environmental activism.

Gojira have shared a new track.
Into The Storm marks the fourth early single from the French metal band s forthcoming LP, Fortitude , due out on April 30 via Roadrunner Records.
Cast across changing time signatures and earth-shuddering riffage, it follows the previously unveiled Amazonia, Born For One Thing and Another World. Vocalist and guitarist Joe Duplantier said: This song is infused with the concept of civil disobedience. Acting accordingly with our deepest wisdom and standing for what is precious and good in this world. The only possible revolution is the one that blossoms from within us. Change will come from individuals. Laws are meant to be bent and shaped to our vital needs. LAWS WILL FOLLOW!
