File May 10, 2021 VACCINE czar Carlito Galvez Jr. has urged the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) to sign an agreement allowing the use of its property as site of a mega vaccination center that will inoculate up to 10,000 individuals a day.
“Time is of the essence. A single minute, hour or day wasted due to indecision or lack of foresight could have a major impact on our vaccination program. Now is not the time for dilly-dallying. What we need is decisive action,” Galvez said in a statement issued late Sunday night, May 9, 2021.
“With the expected arrival of the bulk of our vaccine orders by the second and third quarter of this year, it is crucial to build up our country’s capability to handle and administer them. And the key in this line of effort is the establishment of more vaccination centers nationwide,” he added.

+ May 08, 2021 THE Philippines on Saturday, May 8, 2021, took delivery of over 2.0 million doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine donated through the Covax Facility.
The shipment, consisting of 2,030,400 doses, brought the total volume of AstraZeneca vaccine delivered to the Philippines to 2.556 million doses.
The National Task Force Against Covid-19 said the vaccine was transported via a Singapore Airlines flight from The Netherlands, which arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 at 12:49 p.m. Saturday.
The first delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines from Covax, totaling 525,600 doses, arrived in two batches about 10 weeks earlier on March 4 and March 7.
All 525,600 doses were administered as first dose before the Department of Health (DOH) suspended its use for adults under 60 years old in early April amid reports of very rare blood clots with low platelet counts. The DOH announced the lifting of the suspension on May 7.

Concerning the AstraZeneca vaccine, the Cabinet member pointed out that this laboratory offered a total of 6.55 million doses for the second half of this year, apart from those that will arrive via the COVAX Facility mechanism.
The minister affirmed that negotiations with the Gamaleya Institute of Russia remain in place, adding that other vaccines are also being considered. However, no additional comments can be made on the matter yet.
"With the subtotal of vaccines that could arrive thru July, if that (goal) is met, we could be covering 61% of the population, keeping the rest for the second half; hopefully, the remainder can be covered during that period," he said.
