HYDERABAD: A large number of activists of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) staged a token hunger strike here on Wednesday in protest against the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for non-supply of natural gas and acute shortage of the commodity throughout Hyderabad district.
Carrying flags, banners and placards, and shouting slogans against the SSGC and its officers, they reached the Hyderabad Press Club where they staged a sit-in for over three hours. Displaying a gas stove, they burnt wood to highlight the grievances of domestic consumers of Hyderabad.
Led by Hyderabad PML-F general secretary Rafiq Magsi and other local leaders, including Nadeem Azad and Imran Qureshi, they appealed to the federal government to ensure proper gas supply to domestic consumers who have been deprived of the facility since beginning of the winter season.
