A Concord police officer and a suspect were shot and killed Wednesday evening in the Concord Mills area.
The Concord Police Department released the names of the fallen officer and an injured officer around 11:10 a.m. Thursday.
Officer Jason Shuping was killed in the line of duty Wednesday, Dec. 16. He was 25 years old and had served on the force for a year and a half.
The CPD statement giving his name read: "Today we are mourning the loss of a beloved family member who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty late Wednesday night. Officer Jason Shuping has served the citizens of Concord and the Concord Police Department since 2019. All will truly miss him."

CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - One police officer is dead and another is injured after an officer-involved shooting in Concord late Wednesday night. Officials say the suspect in the shooting is dead.
The Concord Police Department identified the officer killed as 25-year-old Jason Shuping. He had 1.5 years of service. The injured officer was identified as 23-year-old Kaleb Robinson.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation identified the suspect in the shooting as 29-year-old Jeremy Maurice Daniels, of Charlotte. Police say Daniels was a convicted felon.

The suspect was later shot and killed by officers, the department said.
Concord officials identified the fatally shot officer as Jason Shuping, 25, who had been with the department since 2019. The wounded officer was identified as Kaleb Robinson, 23. His injuries are non-life threatening, officials said.

CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - Governor Roy Cooper is ordering all North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Concord Police Officer Jason Shuping who was shot and killed Wednesday night.
This will begin Friday, Dec. 18 and go until sunset on Sunday, Dec. 20.
Shuping was killed in a shooting on Gateway Lane near Bruton Smith Boulevard just before 11 p.m. Wednesday. Officers exchanged shots with the suspect, who was armed, according to officials. Another officer, identified as 23-year-old Kaleb Robinson, was injured in the shooting.

A police officer and a suspect were killed in a shootout Wednesday night at a fast food restaurant in Concord that also injured a second officer.

The City of Concord said 25-year-old Jason Shuping was the officer killed; Officer Kaleb Robinson sustained "non-life-threatening injuries."
Concord Police say the incident started around 10:20 pm when officers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle and an attempted carjacking near the Sonic restaurant on Gateway Lane, across I-85 from Concord Mills Mall.
