Eight bonsai trees, including one 100 years old and another stolen but recovered once before, remained missing Tuesday after they were taken last week during a burglary of the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt, according to staff and police.

Thieves broke through the wall of the Bonsai Garden in Lake Merritt, California , twice on Wednesday evening and Thursday early morning, making off with eight bonsai trees worth $20,000.

The Augusta Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association is receiving a historical marker from the State of Georgia Historical Society for being the oldest Chinese organization in the state.

This month the state of Georgia will recognize the states oldest Chinese organization, which was started right here in the CSRA.

The victim was taken to Eskenazi Hospital, but died from their wounds.
