The department has received over 764,000 applications for the 2023 academic year, with areas in Pretoria North, Alberton, and Joburg South accounting for most of the applicants.
The department has urged parents not to panic if they don't receive an SMS on the first day of placement - adding that they should expect an SMS anytime between Monday the 3rd of October and the 30th of next month.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi admitted that the system has not been without challenges, however, he’s urged parents to take advantage of the online process which opens up on Friday.
