The Class 10 Board exams have been cancelled by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and students will be promoted to the next class based on a special criterion. As the Board announced this decision, it also left students with some questions. CBSE class 10 students want to know how they will be promoted and what evaluation criteria will be laid down by the board to allot them marks.

The Board exams for classes 10 and 12 have been cancelled and postponed, respectively by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) amid the massive surge in the COVID-19 caseload in the country. The exams were scheduled to be held from May 4 till June 14. The decision regarding the cancellation and postponement of the CBSE exams 2021 came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and other concerned officials. The Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting on April 14 (Wednesday) to review the examinations to be held at various levels in view of the developing Corona situation. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary, School and Higher Education Secretaries and other top officials attended the meeting.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the well-being of the students has to be the top priority for the Government. He also stated that the Centre would keep in mind the best interests of the students and ensure that their health is taken care of at the same time their academic interests are not harmed.

Amid the rising demand for cancelling the CBSE exams for classes 10 and 12 scheduled to commence in May amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to hold a meeting with Education Minister, Secretary and other important officials at 12 noon on April 14 (Wednesday) to discuss the issue of CBSE Board Exams, news agency ANI quoted government sources as saying.
