The Geauga Board of Health continued exploring the option to partner with Lake County General Health District at its monthly meeting Feb. 22. This has been an ongoing conversation since
Geauga County residents will notice some new gear when they head to the voting booths this November.
Geauga County Commissioners approved the participation in a sublease-purchase arrangement with the Ohio Secretary of State for new voting machines for the Geauga County Board of Elections during their March 30 meeting.
The arrangement includes state grant funding to support the purchase of voting machine, valued at a total of $1 million. With the state funding, however, the county will only pay approximately $175,000.
The machines will remain a paper-based system wherein voters will feed their ballots through the top of the equipment, Geauga County Board of Elections officials said, having virtually no change on the voter experience.
