LEWISTOWN Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital earned the highest score for quality from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CMS rated more than 4,500 hospitals from 1 to 5 stars as part of its annual overall quality scores, with fewer than 14% of all hospitals, and only 22 facilities in Pennsylvania, receiving five stars. “Geisinger has been the trusted name for health care in our communities for more than 100 years,” said Donna Hahn, RN, vice president of quality and safety for Geisinger. “By earning five-star status, we are showing our patients that trust is well earned. Robert Shook, 57, of Montoursville, was treated at UPMC Muncy for injuries he suffered when his car struck two ditches and overturned at Kehrer Hill and Woodley Hollow roads in Mill Creek Township about 4:45 p.m. on April 12, police said. Brandy Whitney, 35, of Jersey Shore, was treated Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital for injuries she suffered when her car and another driven by James Noltee, of Linden, collided on Route 220 at the entrance of Dollar General in Woodward Township about 3:34 p.m. on April 13, police said.

CHASE BOTTORF cbottorf@lockhaven.com LOCK HAVEN As Pennsylvania rolls out a multitude of vaccines in an effort to diminish the never ending tirade that the virus has had on the U.S., Clinton County is ranked as one of the lowest counties in total vaccinated in the state. So far, Clinton County is sitting at 14.92% of its population totally vaccinated. That is a mere 5,831 out of 39,074 county residents. When compared to surrounding counties, Clinton County is toward the bottom, along with Potter County with only 9.72% or 1,646 out of 16,967 people totally vaccinated. Other counties such as Cameron and Clearfield are sitting at the top of the list, with around 20% totally vaccinated by population, give or take.
