The tanker had been detained because it was suspected of travelling to syria against eu sanctions. The ship is carrying 2. 1 Million Barrels of Iranian Crude Oil and was only released from gibraltar on the condition it would not take oil to syria. The British Foreign office said sailing the ship to syria would be a morally bankrupt course of action and against international norms.
