Winton Eugene "Gene" Rush, 74, of Norris City, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022. He was born on March 14, 1948 in Springerton, IL, the son of Robert W. and Kathryn Rush. Gene owned and operated Rush Marathon in Enfield for many years, and later Rush's Station in McLeansboro, Illinois. He was a Christian and was a Past Master and member of the Enfield Masonic Lodge. Statewide drug overdose deaths spiked in 2020

Isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase in drug overdose deaths across the state last year, and the trend appears to be repeating itself this year. Ray Barishansky, a deputy secretary at the state Health Department, said there were 422 more overdose deaths last year than there were in 2019. Greene County coroner to seek a second term

Greene County coroner Gene Rush has announced that he is seeking a second term. Rush, a Rogersville resident and retired funeral director, is seeking the Republican Party nomination.
