CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - The police will never back down against illegal drugs and will sustain all their gains under the Duterte administration. Brig. General Matthew Baccay, Philippine Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3) Director, said Friday their commitment to eradicate illegal drugs still holds. "We would remain relentless in our anti-illegal drug operations and in our drive to put a stop to the illegal drug trade," Baccay said in a statement. Data from PRO-3 showed that 821,084.95 grams of shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of about PHP5.58 billion, and 1,204,634.48 grams of marijuana worth some PHP144 million were confiscated in the region from July 2016 to date. A total of 106,790 anti-illegal drug operations were launched in the region during the same period, leading to the arrest of 62,749 and the death of 2,423 suspects. Brig. General Matthew Baccay, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3), on Tuesday identified the arrested suspects as Julius Guillermo, 30; and Jean Dantes, 53. Guillermo was nabbed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mawaque Maragul, Mabalacat City that led to the confiscation of six pieces of heat-sealed and two pieces of knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 305 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of PHP2.0

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - A total of 51 cities and municipalities in Central Luzon have been identified as election hotspots for the May 9 national and local polls, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) said on Wednesday. Brig. General Matthew Baccay, regional director of PRO-3, said the election hotspots were categorized and color-coded based on a set of parameters. Of the total 116 municipalities and 14 cities in the region, there are 29 towns and five cities classified as election areas of concern or under the yellow category, while 14 towns and three cities are election areas of immediate concern or under the orange category. Baccay said those areas under the yellow and orange categories have intense political rivalry, a history of election-related incidents in the last two polls, and the presence of armed men such as gun-for-hire and New People's Army (NPA) communist terrorist groups.
