Gov. Tim Walz announced on Monday the appointments of two new justices to Minnesota's highest court. 

Early Monday morning, Walz said he has appointed Sarah Hennesy to replace Justice G. Barry Anderson and Theodora Gaïtas as the replacement for Justice Margaret Chutich.

Both are experienced, well-respected jurists who bring exceptional intellectual gifts and a deep commitment to serving the people of Minnesota.

A merit selection panel advanced six candidates for the seats due to come open in coming months. Gov. Tim Walz will have the final say on which two candidates will be appointed to the court.
