GEORGE NEWS - A corner of Thembalethu library in George is currently devoted to the importance of the environment.
As part of their Youth Community Outreach Programme (YCOP), officials from the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (Deff) have set up an information nook to create awareness among young people and inspire them to be advocates for the environment.
The programme is also meant to create jobs and provide accredited training. Active participation by all citizens in environmental management can be achieved only if we are equipped with relevant information to make informed decisions, says Ethan Stoffels of the municipality s environmental services section.
