Extended Match Preview: No 8 Clemson Set to Face Denver in Round of 32

CLEMSON, S.C. The Clemson men’s soccer team (13-5, 5-3 ACC) is set to face Denver (10-3-5, 4-1-1 Summit League) on Sunday, November 21 at 7 p.m. This will be the Tiger’s 34th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance as they were selected as the No. 8 seed with a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the round of 32 and 16. This will be head Coach Mike Noonan’s eighth tournament berth in the past nine seasons.  The Tigers are 55-28-6 all-time in the NCAA tournament and have reached the championship four times, earning national titles in 1987 and 1984.  Clemson and Denver are meeting for just the second time in the programs’ history. The last time the Tigers faced the Denver Pioneers was in the NCAA quarterfinals of the 2016 postseason tournament where No. 3 Clemson fell 0-1 to No. 4 Denver at Historic Riggs Field.  This past season the Tigers were led in goals by Isaiah Reid, (7) scoring three goals in just his first two games of the year. Ågren, McNeill Earn ACC Player of the Week Honors

Following a week in which Clemson men's soccer secured two significant victories by a combined score of 9-1, two Tigers have been honored by the ACC for their performances, the conference announced on Tuesday. Oskar Agren was crowned co-Defensive Player of the Week, while Quinn McNeill earned Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Agren, who played all 180 minutes for the Tigers last week at center back, also contributed the first and game-winning goal against FIU. His penalty kick was slotted beautifully into the bottom right-hand side of the net to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage that they would never surrender. He also assisted on Ousmane Sylla's goal against Louisville. His perfectly weighted ball sprung Sylla through on goal. Oskar achieved those offensive statistics while also commanding a back line that conceded just one goal in 180 minutes of play and allowed only nine total shots on goal. https://twitter.com/ClemsonMSoccer/status/1453153459843

Tigers Second Half Onslaught Secures Clemson Share of Atlantic Division Title – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

CLEMSON, S.C. The No. 15 Clemson men’s soccer team (12-4-0, 5-3-0 ACC) captured a share of the ACC’s Atlantic Division TItle on Friday night with a 5-1 victory against the Louisville Cardinals (10-6, 5-3 ACC) on Senior Night. The Tigers conceded the first goal of the game before their offense finally broke through to score three unanswered.  The co-championship of the Atlantic Division clinched the Tigers a first-round bye in the ACC Tournament and home-field advantage until the conference championship in Cary, N.C. The Tigers started the match on the front foot, creating several key chances in the first 20 minutes, all of which were turned away brilliantly by Louisville’s goalkeeper Detre Bell. Ultimately it was the Cardinals who capitalized first, putting away a beautifully struck ball into the top-right corner of George Marks’s net. The lead was destined to be short-lived, as the Tigers put together a lovely build-up, culminating in Alvaro Gomez playing a lofted ball over

Tigers Explode for Four Second-Half Goals in 4-0 Win Over FIU

CLEMSON, S.C. Behind Luis Felipe Fernandez-Salvador’s second-half brace, Clemson erupted for four goals in the period and shut out Florida International 4-0 at Historic Riggs Field on Tuesday night. Clemson came blitzing out of the halftime locker room and scored three goals in the first 11 minutes of the second frame to take command of the match.  The first half on the other hand went by with little action. The Panthers outshot the Tigers 7-4, but Clemson goalkeeper George Marks turned away any chance FIU had of grabbing the first goal. Just 23 seconds into the second half, Fernandez-Salvador presented a threat to the Panther defense and was taken down in the box. He then handed the ball to Oskar Ågren, who calmly stepped to the spot and placed the ball beyond the outstretched arm of the Panthers keeper to give Clemson the advantage.  Then, just seven minutes later, a Tigers' offensive rush saw Isaiah Reid catch up to a long-ball that was destined to go out for a throw-in.

Tigers Drop 2-0 Result in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Clemson suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Syracuse on Saturday night at SU Soccer Stadium. The Tigers (10-4, 4-3 ACC) and Orange (8-6-2, 2-4-1 ACC) played evenly, but a first-half Syracuse goal forced Clemson to play from behind and ultimately was enough to hand the Tigers their fourth loss of the season.  In a back and forth first half, it was the Orange that struck first on a well-placed right-footed strike that found the corner of George Marks’s net. Marks tallied five total saves on the evening. Syracuse took the 1-0 advantage into the halftime locker room despite getting outshot 9-5 in the first 45 minutes of play. The Tigers battled valiantly for an equalizer throughout the second half, but the Orange defense held strong until the 86th minute when Syracuse secured a second goal, all but putting the game away.  Up next, the Tigers return home for their last inter-conference match against FIU on Tuesday, October 26 at 7 p.m. The match at Historic Riggs Fiel
