KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 As Malaysia struggles to bring the Covid-19 pandemic under control, the government’s decision to implement a third movement control order or more popularly known as MCO 3.0 wasn’t entirely unexpected.
Albeit not as stringent as the first MCO in March last year, this third rendition comes into play as the country sees consecutive days of record-high daily Covid-19 cases as well as deaths.

GEORGE TOWN, May 20 Mass Covid-19 testing for the manufacturing sector in Penang using the on-site pooled saliva RT-PCR screening method will start next week.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the mass testing will be implemented under the ‘Penang S.A.F.E’ programme, a collaborative effort between the state government and the Penang branch of the Federation of Manufacturers Malaysia (FMM).

GEORGE TOWN, May 4 Penang Gerakan lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over graft allegations involving its RM11.93 million poultry distribution centre.
Its state complaints bureau chief H’ng Khoon Leng questioned the decision-making process surrounding the poultry distribution centre.
“There is a high possibility of wrongdoing and corruption involved in the awarding of the project to a private company that does not have experience in poultry farming or any farming-related sector,” he said during a press conference outside the MACC headquarters in Penang here.

GEORGE TOWN, May 3 The National Security Council (NSC) special meeting on Covid-19 chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has yet to make a decision on the movement control order (MCO) in Penang, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said today.
Chow, who attended the meeting virtually, said it was not decided if Penang would remain under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) or move to another.
