OR sewer testing shows virus widespread

The city of Oak Ridge continues to do tests on wastewater in Oak Ridge’s sewers for COVID-19 genetic material. The city recently shared charts showing the virus transmission as of Dec. 2.
City Public Works Director Shira McWaters warned the city about the results in an email dated Dec. 8, which was included in the City Council regular meeting agenda.
“The virus is widespread in the city,” she stated in the email referring to the results of those sewer tests. “The city as a whole is in the Yellow Zone (widespread transmission imminent) and the city can move into the Red Zone (uncontrolled transmission) if stronger preventative actions are not taken.”
