The Chiltern Tunnel South Portal Headwall has been designed to provide a subvertical face for the launch of the TBMs, having an approximate retained height of 20m. The face was designed to have an angle of 70 degrees above the tunnel crown, through 6 m of structureless chalk and drift deposits, and 80 degrees below the tunnel crown a further height of 14m. The subvertical face is essential to enable the beginning of the bore.
The South Portal structure is part of the wider South Cutting works, and interfaces with the Chiltern Tunnel at the headwall location. The tunnel portal extends South East for approximately 230m towards the Colne Valley Viaduct.

Subscriber only Queensland s Coal Mining Board of Inquiry has released a list of witnesses to appear at a second tranche of hearings into last year s Grosvenor Mine blast. The second round of hearings will begin on Tuesday, March 9 2021 in Brisbane Magistrates Court. The hearings will explore high potential incidents of methane exceedances that occurred at Anglo American s Grosvenor Mine between July 1, 2019 and May 5, 2020 as well as the May 6 blast that left five miners with serious burns injuries. The names of witnesses to appear in weeks one to three of the hearings have been released, with the board advising that weeks four and five are to be advised.

My experience with a Geotechnical Engineer, call the city first and ask them for the preferred list of Geo tech’s.. This is because the city has absolutely no Idea what they are looking at.

Landslides will always happen to a certain degree but I have to wonder how much of this is brought on by removing the trees and native vegetation. All I see in these pictures are invasive species like ivy, blackberry, and laurel. Anyone qualified able to comment on this?
