Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA’s) Jebel Ali Power Generation & Water Production Complex has been confirmed by Guinness World Records as the largest single-site natural gas power generation facility in the world.
Dewa opens 2,367 substations across Dubai in 2020
DUBAI, December 27, 2020 Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has inaugurated 2,367 (11 kV) substations across Dubai since the beginning of 2020, in its efforts to provide electricity and water services according to the highest standards of efficiency. “Electricity infrastructure expansion plans, including increasing production capacity and transmission and distribution networks, are developed based on demand forecast in Dubai until 2030, taking into consideration the demographic and economic growth in the Emirate,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa. Al Tayer said that Dewa’s investments in the energy sector are AED86 billion ($23.4 billion) over the next five years.

After China and three other countries submitted data that was inappropriately altered with regard to the Ease of Doing Business Report, the World Bank has now corrected the data. In the updated report, China has slipped seven positions below to 85.

Following reviews of data irregularities, the World Bank recently releases its updated Doing Business in which China s position has been downgraded. The World Bank has said that China s ranking would have been lower by seven notches in the index for 2018. Besides China, the ranking of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan has also gone down in the corrected list.
