During Israel-Hamas conflict, British Jews come under physical and verbal attack Jennifer Hassan © Matthew Chattle/Barcroft Media/Getty Images Participants at a London antisemitism rally in December 2019. LONDON A convoy of cars made its way through the leafy neighborhood of St. John’s Wood, a north London area that many Jews call home. With horns blaring, windows blackened and cars draped with Palestinian flags, demonstrators hung out of windows and sunroofs. From inside one car, a man shouted an antisemitic tirade into a megaphone, calling for the rape of Jewish women as horrified neighbors recorded from inside their homes. A video of the convoy drew millions of views over the weekend, prompting fierce backlash on social media.

Putin warns world against crossing Russia s red lines as Navalny supporters rally CNN 2 hrs ago By Anna Chernova, Zahra Ullah and Laura Smith-Spark, CNN © Alexander Zemlianichenko/Pool/AP Russian President Vladimir Putin gives his annual state of the nation address in Manezh, Moscow, Russia, Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Putin s state-of-the-nation speech comes amid a new surge in tensions with the West over a Russian troop buildup near the border with Ukraine and a hunger strike by jailed Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny protesting a lack of adequate medical treatment in prison. (AP Photo/Alexander Zemlianichenko, Pool) Russia s President Vladimir Putin said he hopes no countries think about crossing Moscow s red lines as he gave his annual address to the nation on Wednesday, just as rallies began in support of detained opposition leader Alexey Navalny.
