Some Massachusetts business owners are still trying to figure out how to keep customers and staff safe when the state's face mask mandate is dropped on May 29.At Vaiani and Clarke Salon in Newton Centre, the owners and staff are carefully weighing what type of policy will work for their customers."We're in the 'contact business,' so we're touching people really up close," said Gia Clarke, co-owner of Vaiani and Clarke.Clarke says while the salon may book a few extra appointments each day, customers will still be required to wear face masks when the statewide mandate is lifted May 29."Not one person has told me they feel comfortable enough just to rip their mask off and come into the salon," Clarke said.A growing number of national and regional chains are easing face mask restrictions for fully-vaccinated customers per guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
