good evening, everyone. there's a lot happening tonight. let's start with breaking news out of howard county where police are on the scene of a double shooting at a shopping center. it happened in the nail and hair care spa in the grant shopping center. this is in the # 1500 block of richards valley road. a man walked into the salon and fired on a female worker and a male companion. the victims are in critical condition and police are looking for the gunman. he fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. we'll let you know as soon as we get more details from police. additional crews are also rushing to the scene of a two- alarm fire in fort howard. it broke out in the 9600 block of get disburg -- gettysburg avenue. multiple units are being called in to get the flames urn control. people report seeing this fire from very far away. no other buildings or homes are threatened. there are concerns it could spread to a brush fire. the political consultant jailed for his role in the 2010 election robocall scandal has been released early. and now his attorney makes a bold statement about that controversial case. monique has new reaction for us. >> reporter: while julius henson is done with his jail time, his lawyer says their fight is far from over. >> reporter: after serving 30 days of a 60 day sentence, julius henson was released from jail for good behavior. he had been serving time for his role in the 2010 election day robocall scandal. >> translator: jail authorities were more compassionate than the court and prosecutors. -- >> the jail authorities were more compassionate than the court and prosecutors. >> reporter: he's now back to take care of his mother. >> that was just you pure mean. >> reporter: the consultant was found guilty of the scandal. he was sentenced to 60 days behind bars, while his co- conspirator got no jail time. hon henson and his supporters claimed race played a role in the disparity. >> no one raided his house. why was that? if that's not some kind of race on somebody's case, what would you direct it as? >> reporter: this exclusive wjz interview outraged the judge who said henson had no remorse. >> i think they're full of crap. that's not a good word, but they're full of crap. >> reporter: for now, henson is glad to be by his mother's side. >> i think he will come back with a vengeance. >> reporter: henson was cleared of the most serious charges. that included election fraud. back to you, adam. >> henson also has a $1 million federal fine. he's planning to appeal that as well. we're tracking a story after a body was found near a gas station. a man man's body was found near this exxon. so far the man has not been identified. there's no word on what led to his death. we have information about a deadly police-involved shooting in northwest baltimore city. police say they so the a man, 25-year-old devante bowman. police say he ran from a store and then reached into his pocket for a weapon and then was shot by awn officer. the officer is on paid administrative leave. a talented teenager's life cut short in a car accident. today, family and friends say their final fair wells. the teen's lass mates say this accident has taught them an unforgettable plon. >> reporter: family and friends say 17-year-old alec cosgeria had everything going for him. a sphar on his swim team, a popular -- a star on his swim team, a popular student, and a popular duct tape business. >> he's a great kid, great attitude. >> he was very talented, so full of promise. touched a lot of people's lives. >> reporter: baltimore county police say alec was driving on green spring avenue after dinner with friends. somehow, he lost control of his car. it spun out on a curb and struck a tree. paramedics tried to save him, but he died at maryland shock trauma. his friends are in shock. >> it's just profound grief. we're sad and it's hard to figure out. >> reporter: detectives say speed played a role in the wreck that killed alec. the parents say the message to slow down is now even more compleerp. >> you just got to buckle up and slow down. i think we all realized it's not a joke out there. >> reporter: at the cathedral of mary our queen, gigi barr net. there's more fallout nut penn state scandal. the painter of a famous joe paterno mural removed the halo from the painting. the halo was removed because of recent revelations of the child sex abuse scandal. he added the halo after paterno died in january. two americans are being held captive in egypt. the kidnapper is threatening to take more most damages if demands are not met. >> reporter: security is tight in egypt's sinai peninsula after two americans and their tour guide was kidnapped. the two were part of a church mission visiting biblical sites in israel and egypt when their tour bus was ambushed. the hostage taker told the associated press he wanted to exchange the two for his uncle, who is in prison. lewis' family in boston is confident he will be released, but they are concerned about his death health. >> he is diabetic, and the longer they hold him, i want to assume that it's not going to work in his favor. >> reporter: alfons a's friend describes her as a >> jan, i had no involvement with the management of bain capital after february of 1999. >> reporter: however, bin's public filings repeatedly lists romney as sole shareholder, sole directer, chief executive officer, president, and even managing directer. still, romney is adamant he did not manage bain at the time. but the obama campaign said he was either misrepresenting his position at bain, thoroughbred horse show, designed to show the talent of thoroughbreds after their competitive days are done. >> i think that after they're done racing, people think there's no place for them to go. this is bulletproof that thoroughbreds can do other thing. they can show, fox hunt, barrel race, they can do effect. >> reporter: more than 500 horses are entered and competing for $500,000,000 in prizes. this horse uses his post post- racing days as a show jumper. >> the horses are wonderful and they have the best brains and they're so kind and they deserve to have a career after they're done very quickly. if you're not underneath one of these, there's no rain. we haven't seen much rain, but some of these will hold on and bring us showers tomorrow morning. this is what we're dealing with most of the afternoon after that morning rain, just a couple of showers and thunderstorms out there, like we said, just scattered about. we may see some fog form overnight. 76 degrees is where we sit right now. a very mild night out there. we did manage a high of 84, but that's it. below average. however, after all of this clears one those temperatures will start climb and we'll be way above a lot of people at the inner harbor as once again, thousands lined up to check out all of the ships. >> reporter: with a turn-like roar, the blue angels rocketed into the sky for a star-spangle sail-evbration air show. thousands had their qlies on the sky as the pilots dipped and dived for dozens of death- defying stunts. for kids like little caleb, the show gave them something to remember. >> the airplanes, like. >> reporter: ale while it brought their eyes to the skies, these star-spangled ships seem to be the star attraction. >> translator: first ship we went on -- >> the first ship we went on was indonesia. >> reporter: and crowds of people swarmed the walkways. >> it's like a sea of people. >> there's got to be over a million people here. >> reporter: the sail-ebration is sale about what led up to a deadly fight between an off-duty police officer and a teenager. police say that officer james lavord heard rocks thrown against his door. he then chased 17-year-old christopher brown down and the 2 got into a fight. the teen lost consciousness and later died of asphyxiation. another teen involved said that brown was not one of the teens throwing rocks. tonight, labord is on administrative leave. federal investigators are on the scene of an airplane crash that killed an experienced pilot. the probably could take months. >> reporter: federal investigators say every factor surrounding this sickle-engine plane wreck is under scrutiny tonight. 64-year-old henry thomas jenkins tried make ab an emergency landing at the carol county regional airport in westminster, but ended up ejected from the plane mere feet from the rubway. minutes before, jenkins had radios in. >> the pile was experiencing some mechanical troubles before the crash. >> reporter: the pilot was rushed to shock trauma, but he died on the way. >> very rarely do we have call it after plane crash. >> reporter: jenkins' family says he was a skilled pile and was flying a sport plane like this one. jenkins was a commercial pilot, an aircraft mechanic, and a flight instructor. >> reporter: both the national transportation safety board and the beyond state police are investigating the crash scene this weekend. in westminster, i'm gigi barr net. -- barnett. >> it could take between 12 and 15 months to determine an official cause of that accident. jerry sandusky is expected to be examined tomorrow by a psychologist. sandusky is currently on trial for allegations that he sexually abulsed at least 10 boys over 15 years. scarts scheduled the psychological exam after the defense was allowed to introduce testimony about whether sandusky has a mental disorder. the trial is expected to resume on monday. the lawyer of a man imprisoned in cuba has lost more than 100 pounds and is having trouble walking. the cuban government says his health is normal. yesterday, they released hi medical records to the family. in a statement today, gross' attorney says they're going to look over those records. he's serving a 15 year sentence for bringing commune case equipment into cuba. u.n. observers in syria are suspending their control because of escalating violence. rebels are attempting to the
