BBC's Bread was one of the most popular comedies of the 80s and brought to life characters who are still loved today, over 35 years after the sitcom first hit TV screens

Jean Boht, who played Nellie Boswell in the sitcom Bread, was battling vascular dementia and Alzheimers disease before her death aged 91.

Set in the heart of Liverpool, the hugely popular show documented the mixed fortunes of the working class Boswell family during a period of mass unemployment in the 1980s.
