There have been days of disorder at Prisons Wiltshire and hertfordshire where riot trained officers were deployed to subdue unruly prisoners. This past year has brought an average of 20 attacks a day on staff in prisons in england and wales, following a decline in the number of Prison Officers over the past few years and complaints over pay. Now the president of Prison Governors Association is publicly blaming the government for what she calls a crisis in many jails and unacceptable stress and anxiety amongst workers. In an open letter to Prison Governors, Andrea Albutt says the state has failed to help them cope with Population Pressures in prison, having changed the way the prisons are run for the worse. Ms albutt says the governments decision taken earlier this year to separate operational control of the Prison System from responsibility for pol
