Suspect arrested in Monday morning shooting incident

The Clinton Police Department has arrested a suspect, Michael Lawrence West, in connection to a shooting at the Git'N Go Market in South Clinton.
The shooting reportedly took place around 5 a.m. Monday, May 24, in the parking lot of the Git’N Go Market at 630 Clinch Ave., a news release from Clinton Police Department stated.
West, 38, of Knoxville, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, reckless endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, stated the news release posted to Facebook and warrants.
The incident was still under investigation as of Wednesday, the time of the Facebook post.

A shooting Monday morning in the parking lot of the Git'N Go Market on Clinch Avenue in South Clinton reportedly left one man injured.
Clinton Police Department officers arrived at the market at 5:03 a.m. after receiving the 5 a.m. call, according to Lt. Danielle Lowry, public information officer.
“It was believed to have been sort of a drive by shooting,” Lowry said.
A police department news release posted to Facebook confirmed that a man was shot during the incident, and he was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville with non-life threatening injuries.
