HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Former State Rep. Gary V. Staples, 80, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
A native of Jones County, Staples served District 88 in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and then again in 2004 before retiring in January 2020.
Staples graduated from Glade High School, Jones County Junior College and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the United States Navy and later retired from BellSouth where he worked for 31 years.
