With the actual temperature predicted to plummet even further below zero and wind chills to be between 20 and 30 below zero tonight and into the early morning hours tomorrow, several school districts have notified KMMO they will be closed on Tuesday, February 16.
According to administrators, Gilliam C-4 School will be closed. Also closed will be Glasgow Public, Head Start and St. Mary’s in Glasgow; Immanuel Lutheran and Lafayette County C-1 in Higginsville; Northwestern at Mendon; Orearville R-4; Otterville; Pettis County R-5 in Houstonia and Hughesville; Santa Fe Schools in Alma and Waverly; Slater; and Trinity Lutheran in Alma.
Marshall Public Schools and Malta Bend R-5 will be distance learning.
Due to a wintry mix of precipitation that has hit the KMMO listening area, several schools did not have classes on Friday, January 15. Several more are dismissing students early.
According to administrators, Marshall Public, Glasgow Public, Malta Bend R-5 and Brunswick R-2 Schools will dismiss students at noon; Slater Public School will dismiss students at 12:08 p.m.; Otterville at 12:15 p.m.; and Fayette R-3 at 12:30 p.m. Also, Glasgow’s Homecoming festivities are rescheduled for Thursday, January 21.
