Indiana State Police has identified the man behind the "I-65 Killer," also known as the "Days Inn Killer," who killed at least three motel clerks in the 1980s and 90s.

For decades, the identity of the elusive Days Inn Killer or I-65 Killer evaded police. Tuesday, he was identified, and he has ties to Iowa.

Law enforcement officials said modern DNA analysis helped them identify the man responsible for killing three women in the late-1980s while they worked overnight shifts at motels off Interstate 65.
