daniel: good morning, 4:30 on this monday, september 5, the labor day holiday. i am daniel miller. many people are moving their labor day plans indoors as they brace for the effects of what was tropical storm hermine. let s get right over to our storm tracker weather center right now to find meteorologist jason brewer standing by with the rain moving in, jason. jason: right now i am watching hermine to the south. it will stay just off of our coastline but building the seas. we are seeing the dangerous rip currents a 70-mile-per-hour winds in there. it is moving northward and getting closer to our coast and it is actually going to bend back to the west as we get into tomorrow. so the good news is, i do expect some weakening of this that will encounter cooler water and looks like it will stay just offshore and move away late in the week. let s focus on right now. there is nantucket. the rain, the heavier showers 20 miles away from that island. so over the next hour and a ha
heaviest is and it just pushed off to the west, rotatings off that way. to the north, heavy rain arrives along route 3 through the plymouth area. east bridgewater, red and orange showing up in here. it s coming down very hard, along route 27, trying to get in and out of the town of east bridgewater. to the north, heavy rain rotate from quincy, milton, a spot of yellow showing up there and even farther to the west and it s gone farther to the west still. now through uxbridge and whitenville, mendon, the rain was coming down a few minutes west but the rain is making it out that way now because the storm keeps coming a little bit closer to us. we ll talk about the track and what it means for our forecast this week ahead. mark: surf is up in westport, brave people suited up to wide the huge waves whipped up by hermine. it s not all fun on the south coast. there is big concern. the families who live there are bracing for big problems. fox 25 s jason law in westport, they had pro

with this slow drift and this storm is just going to kind of well, fizzle itself out eventually. rain itself out. meanwhile we ll still get bands of rain to come on shore. this is what i mean the storm is still circulating around but a lot of the rain is well off to the south and west of it. there s no center of rain all around it anymore very close to the center. these are all signs we look for for a weakening system or opening of the wave as we call it from this area of low pressu rain coming on shore. there s still some heavy spots of rain like in halifax right now. seeing some heavier rain come on through. out to metro west still seeing some heavy rain. then to the north shore danvers, peabody, essex all seeing pockets of heavy rain move on through right now. that will continue overnight. some periods of heavy rainshowers that will come on by. i won t rain all the time. certainly the heaviest on the cape and islands as will be expected that will be continuing even as the
