In an effort to generate more business downtown, the City of Glidden is purchasing two buildings, with plans of fixing them up and selling them to business owners.
The Glidden City Council is moving forward with repairs to a shared wall at the Glidden Wellness Center that has been weakened by water damage over time. Officials learned of the issue several months ago, and City Administrator, Brooke Peterson, says the repairs required experience in masonry, and outside assistance would be necessary.
On Monday, the city council approved a $17,000 estimate from Paul Henry Masonry out of Rockwell. Peterson says the contractor expects to be on site as early as Monday, Dec. 21. The extent of the damage will not be apparent until they begin work on the project.
