Twelve African countries will receive 18 million doses of the first-ever malaria vaccine over the next two years, according to the World Health Organisation, Gavi, and UNICEF. The vaccine, developed by GSK, has already been administered to over 1.7 million children in three countries and has resulted in a significant reduction in severe malaria. The countries set to receive the vaccine include Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Niger, Sierra Leone, and Uganda. Malaria is a leading cause of death in Africa, with the region accounting for nearly 95% of cases globally. | Latest News India
