The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay the acquittal last week of former Delhi University professor GN Saibaba, who was serving a life sentence, and five others - who were accused of Maoist links and charged under-terror law UAPA.

The Supreme Court rejected Maharashtra governments request for a stay on the acquittal of G N Saibaba and others in the Maoist links case. The court admitted the governments appeal against the well-reasoned Bombay High Court order by BHC. Saibaba was wheelchair-bound and lodged in Nagpur Central Jail since his arrest in 2014.
