India News: The two branches of the family – Smita Godrej Crishna and Jamshyd Godrej to the left and Adi Godrej and Nadir Godrej to the right – have reached a set
One of the wealthiest Indians, Naoroji owns stakes across group companies that will form part of the now bifurcated Godrej Enterprises Group and Godrej Industries Group
The restructuring of the 127-year Godrej Group will divide the conglomerate into two- its listed entities under Godrej Industries and unlisted business under Godrej Enterprises.
The group has been split between two branches of the founding family, with Adi Godrej (82) and his brother Nadir (73) on one side and their cousins Jamshyd Godrej (75) and Smita Godrej Crishna (74) on the other, a statement by the group said.
The Godrej family branches have also entered into a Brand & Non-Compete Agreement to record their understanding in respect of the Godrej brand and non-compete obligations.
Splitting into Godrej Enterprises and Godrej Industries brings clarity, with no major immediate stock impact. Analysts await Vikhroli land development by Godrej and Boyce, potentially positive for stock.
