Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, the wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has filed a defamation suit against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for making false allegations of irregularities in a food processing project. Sarma s counsel stated that the case has been filed for Rs 10 crore at the Court of Civil Judge and will be moved on September 26. The controversy began when a media report alleged that agricultural land was reclassified as industrial land after being purchased by Sarma s company. Gogoi made allegations of corruption and sought intervention from the Commerce and Industry Minister.
