Young Citizen: Seven Kings Lemonade for Yemen-aid boys win

Young Citizen Awards 2016 logo - Credit: Archant Ayaan Moosa and Mikaeel Ishaaq s fundraising effort to help starving children in Yemen was first featured in the Ilford Recorder when they set out to raise £100 on July 5 last year but they raised £4,500 on the day.  They went viral and were interviewed on BBC, ITV and various international outlets, which caught the eye of superstar Angelina Jolie.

The BBFC’s Youth Panel will meet once a term, and will be consulted on a range of topics including; onscreen depictions of discrimination; mental health representation in films and TV; social media; the film industry.

Stormzy’s special message to boys who raised £100,000 with ‘Lemonade for Yemen-aid Seven year-olds Ayaan and Mikaeel, who last summer set up a lemonade stand to raise money for children living in Yemen, have been awarded Blue Peter Gold badges as part of a special Blue Peter show which aired on CBBC and BBC iPlayer OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE BBC iPlayer Ayaan and Mikaeel called their stand Lemonade For Yemen-Aid and set a target to raise £500, but by the end of just day one they had raised an incredible £5,000. They went on to receive a donation from Hollywood’s Angelina Jolie, and in total have now raised an incredible £100,000.

Mikaeel supports Arsenal and Ayaan Man-U so the boys were over the moon to meet their idols. To top it off they received a special message from Stormzy who tells them: I have heard about your incredible lemonade stand and all the amazing work you guys have done. I was blown away… I would love to nominate you for a Gold Blue Peter badge, you are a pair of little legends, wear it with pride because you deserve it.” The rap legend Stormzy surprised the boys and said he was blown away by the amazing work they did through their incredible lemonade stand.
