Good Shepherd asks public to name robotic devices that help children walk; contest ends May 11 A Good Shepherd pediatric patient walks with the help of the Trexo Plus Robotic Exoskeleton PHOTO/FILE Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is offering the public the chance to name three Trexo Plus robotic exoskeletons. The devices, described as “life-changing pieces of technology” by Good Shepherd, help children facing complex medical conditions to walk, sometimes for the first time in their lives. Good Shepherd Pediatrics, a branch of the Allentown-based Good Shepherd, employs the three exoskeletons at its South Allentown campus at 850 S. 5th Street. A Trexo exoskeleton is a wearable robotic device that moves a child’s legs, creating a “perfect gait,” according to Good Shepherd. The exoskeletons enable children to walk who otherwise cannot do so. Some children may even be able to walk completely on their own after months or years of Trexo therapy.
