While not as expansive as last year s pledge by AWS to offer free cloud training to 29 million people around the world, it does provide significant access and insight into some of the most popular cloud services in use today.
Participants will have 30 days of free access to Google Cloud Labs to work their way through four skill challenges: Getting Started , Data Analytics , Hybrid and Multi-cloud and finally Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence .
Each skill badge is a foundational certificate, which requires participants to complete a series of hands-on labs and a final assessment. The Getting Started course also requires the learner to demonstrate core infrastructure skills, including how to write cloud shell commands, deploy a virtual machine, and run applications on Kubernetes.
Red Hat to Acquire StackRox
American multinational software company Red Hat today announced the signature of a definitive agreement to acquire StackRox, a trailblazer in Kubernetes-native security.
By bringing StackRox’s Kubernetes-native security capabilities to Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat said it hopes to take one step closer to creating a single platform that will enable users to build, deploy and securely run nearly any application across the entirety of the hybrid cloud.
In addition to Red Hat OpenShift, StackRox will carry on supporting multiple Kubernetes platforms, including Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

IBM-owned Red Hat is to snaffle container security outfit StackRox and plans to fold the company s tech into its OpenShift platform.
The amount being spent on the acquisition was not shared, although Crunchbase reported that StackRox has picked up more than $65m of funding in recent years, with a $26.5m investment led by Menlo Ventures as recently as September last year.

Red Hat to acquire container security firm StackRox
US open source software giant Red Hat is set to acquire StackRox for an undisclosed amount. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2021.
Through the acquisition, the company aims to bring StackRox’s Kubernetes-native security capabilities to OpenShift, Red Hat’s container platform. Red Hat provides open source software solutions, including Linux, hybrid cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
