National Safe Digging Month serves as a reminder to all people who plan to dig in their yard, begin a construction project or engage in any other earthmoving activity to call Wisconsin’s Diggers Hotline at 811; or in Minnesota, call Gopher State One Call at 811, at least three full business days before digging. By calling 811, residents can have underground utility lines in the work area located and identified at no cost. It’s a simple call that can help avoid unintended consequences such as injury to you or your family, damage to your property, utility service outages or costly repairs associated with damaged lines.

Free Call Could Safe Your Life if You Have A Digging Project

Pixabay (KNSI) – April is National Safe Digging Month, and Minnesotans can make sure they’re safe doing their spring projects by making a phone call. Call 8-1-1 to have underground utility lines marked free of charge before beginning any digging projects.  Damaging or striking a single utility line can cause severe injury and repair costs, fines, and outages.  Xcel Energy says with the snow melted and warmer weather, people will begin their annual spring traditions of gardening and landscaping.  Homeowners and contractors should call 8-1-1 or submit an online request to Gopher State One Call at least two business days before beginning a project.
