Flagstaff Unified School District school teachers, staff and students, who attend in-person learning, will have to continue to wear face masks for the time being. The district’s governing board decided to extend the use of COVID-19 mitigation strategies at their meeting Tuesday. “We want the community to know that we are committed to the safety of our students and schools,” said Governing Board President Carole Gilmore. “With five weeks left of in-person learning, it is important that we have predictability for all of our stakeholders in what has been a very unpredictable year.” Superintendent Michael Penca says “if and when there are changes to our mitigation efforts, we will inform our families and community.” For more information on the district’s COVID-19 mitigation plan, log onto fusd1.org.
