LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Wisconsin Republican lawmakers this week approved the legislative district maps that Governor Evers submitted to the states Supreme Court.

The new legislative maps enactment dramatically shifts Wisconsins political landscape in a move that jeopardizes Republicans control of both chambers for the first time in over a decade.

Gov. Tony Evers signed new legislative district maps into law on Monday that he proposed and that Republicans passed to avoid having the liberal-controlled state Supreme Court draw the lines.

Some Northeast Wisconsin lawmakers on both sides of the aisle voted against legislation that would adopt maps introduced by Governor Tony Evers.

Gov. Tony Evers vetoed the last attempt, which was based on maps he proposed, but deemed gerrymandered by Wisconsin Supreme Court consultants.
