His body was flown in a police chopper from Lee Funeral Home, Nairobi to his home in Tente, Nyamira town. The body of Governor John Nyagarama arrives at Nyamira. [Sammy Omingo, Standard] The body left Lee Funeral Home some minutes past 8.00 am in a Kenya police chopper and landed at Riamanoti Primary School shortly after 9.00 am. The body left Lee Funeral Home some minutes past 8am in a Kenya police chopper whch landed at Riamanoti Primary School shortly after 9am. Family members receive Governor Nyagarama’s body at Riamanoti Primary School in Borabu Constituency. [Eric Abuga, Standard] The family will hold brief prayers before proceeding to Nyamira Primary school grounds where the funeral service will be held under the leadership of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church where the deceased was an  elder.

[Wilberforce Okwiri,Standard] Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama will be buried on Thursday in a State burial that will be co-ordinated by the Ministry of Interior. The funeral organising committee co-chair Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango MP) said Nyagarama’s remains would be flown via police chopper on the same day from Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi to his Tente home in Nyamira town. An earlier announcement by the governor’s press service posted on Facebook had said the body would be flown to Nyansiongo, his Riamanoti home, on Wednesday for viewing before being taken to Nyamira, where it would stay overnight ahead of interment on Thursday.

The UNTOLD STORY of the late Nyamira Governor Nyagarama from Nyakemincha, Maseno school, University Nairobi, Tea politics NYAGARAMA THE MAN John Obiero Nyagarama was born in Nyakemincha, Nyamira, Nyamira County in 1946. He received his primary school education at Nyakemincha Primary School in West Mugirango Constituency. His O-levels were taken at Maseno School and his A-levels at Kisii High School. He then attended the University of Nairobi Having graduated from the University of Nairobi, Nyagarama worked as a teacher at Nduru Boys Secondary School from 1975 to 1976. He then taught at Nyanshiongo Boys High School until 1978, when he transferred to Menyenya High School. He was among the first to teach there and stayed for a period of four years.[7] He later stopped teaching and began farming, focusing on tea production. He joined the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) as a management trainee and eventually became a manager in various KTDA branches countrywide. He was managing director of the privately-owned Sotik Tea Factory from 1991 to 1992.

Nyamira Governor Nyagarama Dies of COVID-19 Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama died Friday morning, becoming the latest high profile Kenyan to succumb to Covid complications. Nyagarama died at Nairobi Hospital ICU, where he had been admitted for more than 3 weeks. His family said that he had breathing problems after his lungs collapsed. The politician was 74 years old, part of the worst hit demographic by the global pandemic. Nyagarama was thought to be improving and doctors even recommended to have him moved from the Covid ICU to the normal ICU. But things worsened on Sunday forcing doctors to put him on life support. His family was informed of his deteriorating condition and called in on Monday.

Governor John Obiero Nyagarama who has been ailing for quite some time breathed his last breath at Nairobi Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment. The governor elected on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket becomes the third governor to die during this tenure after Nyeri’s Patrick Wahome Gakuru who died in a road accident in November 2017 and Bomet county’s Joyce Laboso in July 2019.
