Synopsis
A shortfall in supply was reported from JSW, Jharsuguda, due to non-lifting of the allocated LMO by the Delhi government from their plant , the interim report submitted to the apex court says.
Even as the Delhi government continued to reiterate its demand for 700 MT of liquid medical oxygen in courts, it was returning excess oxygen or having it stored at plants instead, according to the national task force s interim oxygen audit report.
On May 9, the Delhi government returned 74 MT of the 120 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) supplied directly to it by M/s Linde Faridabad.
Ghaziabad: As the oxygen crisis continues at hospitals because of high patient load due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a demand-supply gap in medical oxygen, Union minister and Ghaziabad MP VK Singh on Friday said the NCR city would be able to meet its oxygen demand soon.
Addressing a virtual press conference, Singh said, “I held talks with UP’s additional chief secretary Avnish Awasthi and apprised him that Ghaziabad’s daily oxygen demand is 83 tonnes. A consignment of oxygen from Vizag is due to reach the city around midnight through oxygen express,” said Singh. “I have also been assured that the oxygen express will keep on delivering oxygen to Ghaziabad every two days,” he added.
Noida/Ghaziabad: The district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar has stopped all private hospitals that have run out of oxygen or have inadequate stock from admitting Covid patients. Most facilities have been grappling with dwindling oxygen stock for the past few days.
“The only difference between a bed at home and a bed at a hospital is that the hospital should be able to provide oxygen. When there is no oxygen, why should a hospital admit a patient? That is not treatment. So, we have stopped all private hospitals that have run out of oxygen from admitting patients. We are continuously expanding ICU facilities and have currently got 2,500 ICU beds. We can treat 3,000 Covid patients now,” district magistrate Suhas LY told TOI.
Several private hospitals have started announcing “no beds” in response to calls.
